Rack Room Shoes raised $1.46 million during its annual Shoes That Fit campaign this year, far exceeding its 2016 goal of $1 million. The family footwear retailer hosts the Shoes That Fit fundraiser to empower customers to give back to their local communities by supplying children in need with new shoes.
The back-to-school season can put quite the strain on some families’ budgets, and Rack Room Shoes knows it. That’s why each year the family footwear chain seeks to empower its customers to impact their local communities through its Shoes That Fit fundraiser.
The back-to-school season can put quite the strain on some families’ budgets, and Rack Room Shoes knows it. That’s why each year the family footwear chain seeks to empower its customers to impact their local communities through its Shoes That Fit fundraiser. This year, Rack Room raised $601,149 to provide children in need with new shoes for the school year–that’s nearly $50,000 more than the retailer raised last year.
The money raised will be channeled through local school liaisons who will identify students and school systems in need, while also coordinating the distribution of new footwear.
This year’s donation from Rack Room Shoes will provide new footwear to approximately more than 25,000 students, allowing them to attend school in dignity and focus on their studies and performance in the classroom.
With such a positive response from its customer base, Rack Room Shoes will continue to set higher goals for the campaign to further aid Shoes That Fit partner schools, educators and students.
To support this cause, Rack Room Shoes invited customers to make a donation of $5 or more–in-store or online–in exchange for a colorable tote bag throughout the retailer’s back-to-school season. The retailer then committed 100 percent of the proceeds to local Shoes That Fit programs. “This is a campaign that we’ve found really resonates with our customers. Every child deserves to go to school in comfort and dignity–and circumstances shouldn’t disrupt that right,” says Jan Mauldin, corporate marketing director for Rack Room Shoes. “Every year we’re humbled by the overwhelming generosity of the communities we serve, and this year is certainly without exception.”
